Welcome to the homepage for the Teddy Hall Relays 2012, organised by Oxford University Cross Country Club, to be held on the Wednesday the 7th of March 2012. The start / finish and race support is based at the Iffley Road track facilities, famous as the location where Sir Roger Bannister first broke the four minute mile. Teddy Hall Relays is a popular running relay race held every year in the heart of Oxford. The race begins from the famous Iffley Road track where Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute barrier (Jackdaw Lane, Iffley Road, Oxford). Each leg of the relay is 4.4 miles and the race is open to Men’s teams (4 runners), Women’s teams (3 runners) and Mixed teams (2 men, 2 ladies per team). Every year THR draws a large attendance from both serious runners and those out to keep fit and have fun. In addition to outside University and club teams, the day traditionally sees a large number of entrants from internal college / department / sports clubs and we welcome runners of all abilities competing on the day! Following the race, prizes will be awarded and tea served at St Edmund’s Hall (on Queen’s Lane, just off the High Street) from 15:30 onwards. The route, changed from previous years, heads out from the Roger Bannister Track, down Meadow Lane and across Donnington Bridge. The course then runs parallel to the Isis, before heading around the perimeter of Christ Church Meadow. Coming out of the Meadow, the course finally goes over Magdelan Bridge before returning to the Sports Centre. You can see photos along the route here - most are taken from the stadium where supporters gather but there are some along the route. As well as raising money for OUCCC, Teddy Hall Relays also support Running Across Borders, a non-profit organization that expands economic opportunity to East African youth through running. RAB aims to utilize the power of sport to empower East African youth and change lives providing a structure whereby each beneficiary can have a sustainable economic future through their passion for running. Every year they: · Run a training camp at 2300m (7,600 ft) above sea level in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. · Support female and male Ethiopian athletes with the objective to facilitate opportunities for running, education and employment. · Have an innovative, sustainable and social entrepreneurial approach to funding through the RAB Visit and Train Programme; an experience of a lifetime for foreign athletes who want to experience the Ethiopian running culture. For more information about RAB, please head to http://www.runningacrossborders.org/index.html
Please note that entries are not accepted on the day.
